Tapestry proves AAC best team with convincing 58-30 win over TCS
1/31/23: The Cottage School Cougars travelled to Tapestry Charter to take on last year’s AAC JV Champions. This team has now developed into a strong varsity squad and stands in first place in the AAC with a now 9-1 record. Cottage lost at home in their first contest by just three points but tonight it was all Tapestry. Cougars were whipped in all phases and lost 58-30.
The first half provided a close match up. The Cougar defense held Tapestry to just 21 points but struggled to score and found themselves down 21-12. It was the second half that did Cottage in. The Titans took advantage of poor offensive execution by TCS and outscored the Cougars 19-11 in the third period. The fourth frame was even worse as Cottage found themselves in the losing column with a 58-30 loss.
Cottage moves to 13-10 overall and 8-2 in the AAC. They have on final non-conference opponent on Friday night here at the Cougar Center versus GIAA Brandon Hall. The Cougars already faced them on the road, losing 64-40 so it will be a tough battle here at home.
Game Notes:
Andrew Dorsey led the team with 15 points and added 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Michael Coryer knocked down a nice-looking three-pointer.
Middle Schooler, Jake Salus, was called up for a varsity game, making him the first middle school basketball student athlete in school history to play on varsity. His A-team defeated Tapestry to win the APAC regular season just before the varsity contest. The varsity Cougars had some guys out due to sickness so gratefully used Salus for some valuable minutes. Jake also knocked down a three pointer and gathered 3 steals. Thank you Jake for helping us out!
