TCS Cougars Runners Up at Oak Mountain Invitational
On Thursday, your Cougar harriers nearly defeated all-comers from the eight-juggernaut public and private schools in attendance over the most intense course and conditions of the season by earning silver. The first five finishers in each race earned medals, and two of our charges garnered bronze. While our girls’ contingency did not field a complete team, Madison Clark placed among the coveted top three at 28:42 despite a fall in the technical trails, while Mary Addison Burch placed 7th in 36:38. In the boys’ contest, Ryan Gaffneystone raced with some big diesel engines at 24:53 to earn the bronze on the podium while William McGuire placed 10th ; Max Rusert, neophyte running with a blistered foot, willed himself to 14th overall in 26:48. Senior veteran, Noah Velasco chased Rusert into the chute with a 28:45. Frosh racer Jonah Lorman placed 34th in 32:14 to round out our top five seeds. Jack McGrew placed 44th at 37:57 while Kenny Lewis kicked ferociously into the chute into 47th place at 40:05. Eric Born was absent and will rejoin his comrades at the Atlanta Athletic Conference Championship held at Mill Springs Academy on 12 October at 4:00PM. Thank you for supporting these student-athletes as they pursue excellence.
