Varsity Track and Field Season Update
Both boys and girls varsity Track and Field teams competed at Greater Atlanta Christian School and Parkview this past week and continued to improve their strength, speed, endurance, and power. At GAC on March 6, Regan McMillan and Eleanor Gaffneystone placed 44th and 45th at 17.93 and 18.16, respectively. Mary Addison Burch earned 8th place, scoring one point, in the 200m dash with a time of 32.91. In the 400m dash, Mary Addison ran 1:17.15 for 9th as Skylar Brown ran 1:18.81 to earn 10th. In the 800m run, Madison Clark ran 2:51.82 (a new school record, and Madison’s second school record) to take gold, while Finley Love ran 3:35 to finish 5th overall. In the 1600m run, Madison Clark ran 6:28 to finish on the top step of the podium, while Finley Love earned 6th place in 7:29. Skylar Brown ran 22.94 to garner silver in the 100m High Hurdles. The 4X100m relay team of Madison, Skylar, Finley, and Mary Addison earned 4th in 1:04.12. In the long jump, Eleanor Gaffneystone leapt to 8’6” for 10th as Reagan McMillin jumped 6”8” into 11th. The boys witnessed Alex Evans and Ian Longino place 35th and 42nd in the 100m dash in 13.59 and 14.67, respectively. In the 200m dash, Alex and Max Rusert placed 24th and 30th with times of 27.92 and 30.14. William McGuire ran 1:05.56 for 12th in the 400m dash. In the 800m run, McGuire returned with a 16th place finish at 2:47, as Noah Velasco ran 3:04 for 19th place. In the 1600m run, Max Rusert ran 6:03 for 12th, as Jonah Lorman kicked across the finish line for 19th at 6:31. Wilson Crosbie placed 5th in the 300m Intermediate Hurdles in 1:06.15. In the 4X100m relay, Mcguire, Evans, Longino and Rusert placed 4th with a 55.24. Noah Velasco triple jumped to 29’11” for 2nd place as Brendan Bullard put the shot into the vectors for 11th place in 27’4”.
At the 15th Annual Parkview, “Need for Speed,” while competing in the cold, wind and rain, our Cougars conquered themselves in the face of discomfort. Finley Love placed 20th in 3:23 in the 800m run as Madison Clark ran to 4:34 and 9th overall in the 1200m run. Skylar Brown ran a gutsy 60m High Hurdles in 12.77 to place 17th. Finley Love threw the discus 46’7” for 21st as Addison Nowakowskie put the shot 11’05” for 26th place.
Wilson Crosbie ran 9.16 to place 50th in the 60m dash. Alex Evans and Braxton Henderson ran 13.66 and 15.22 for 26th and 27th, respectively in the 100m dash. Alex and Wilson ran the 200m dash at 30.61 and 31.50 to finish 21st and 22nd, respectively. Wilson ran 50.97 for 26th place. Jonah Lorman ran the 800m run in 2:56 for 25th place. Noah Velasco ran the 1200m race in 4:56 for 25th place. Ian Longino, Alex Evans, William McGuire and Max Rusert placed 11th in the 800m Sprint Medley relay to conclude the event.
