Dr. Steve Palmer Named President Georgia Independent School Association Board
The Cottage School is pleased to announce that Dr. Steven Palmer, Head of School, has been elected as the new President/Chair of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Board. This is a tremendous honor for Dr. Palmer and a significant accomplishment for The Cottage School.
GISA is a non-profit association for private, independent, and parochial schools throughout the state of Georgia. It provides advocacy, professional development, and student activities for its 200 member schools and over 50,000 students.
As GISA President/Chair, Dr. Palmer will lead the 12-member Board of Trustees in shaping the vision and direction of the association. He will also represent GISA at the state and national levels. Dr. Palmer has served on the GISA Board of Trustees since 2016 and has been an active leader in the association for many years.
“It is an honor to be elected President/Chair of GISA. I look forward to working with fellow trustees and member schools to advance the mission of independent education throughout Georgia,” said Dr. Palmer. “GISA plays an important role in promoting choice and innovation in K-12 education. I’m excited to help strengthen and expand GISA’s impact.”
Dr. Palmer has served as Head of School at The Cottage School since 2015. Under his leadership, The Cottage School has experienced significant growth, earned multiple accreditations and awards, and established itself as a leader in progressive education.
