GIAA Region 2022 Recap
Yesterday, the penultimate region GIAA took place yesterday at the famous Mill Springs Academy and both the girls and boys team earned their way to state with girls team placing first and boys team placing third. Please congratulate them on this outstanding achievement!
Sophomore Madison Clark won bronze nearly with a near second finish with a time of 24:54. Neophyte Skyler Brown (8th grade) followed suit placing 4th with a personal record of 27:11. Frosh Malia Richards placed 8th with a time of 31:02 followed by Freshman Hannah Katz who bolted for 9th place with a time of 31:51. Eleanor Gaffneystone ran the intense course with tenacity placing 12th with a time of 33:55 giving her a new personal record! Great job to the girl’s team on their triumph! For the boy’s team, Junior Noah Velasco led the boys team placing 14th overall with a time of 21:36. Senior Nick Elliot followed closely behind placing 17 with a time of 24:03 earning himself a personal record. Junior Jack McGrew sprinted to the finish line placing 22nd with a personal best of 27:02; Sophomore Eric Born chased Jack placing 23rd with a personal best of 27:15. Up and coming runner Jonah Lorman dashed to the finish line placing 28th with a time of 29:44. Dean Kirksey finished the race with a personal best of 35:22. Next Saturday October 28th the Cougars will head to state at First Presbyterian Day School in Macon Georgia to compete for victory as state champions. Thank you for your support and Go Cougars!!
