GAC Invitational Recap
The Cougars varsity boys and girls Track and Field teams competed this past Friday at the GAC Invitational amid the occasional cooling drizzle. The highlights include Lillian Travis placing 26th in the 100m dash for the girls with a 16.76, as Jack McGrew and Tyler Robinson placed 19th and 25th, respectively in 13.38 and 14.39 for the boys. In the 200m dash, the same dynamic duo competed as Jack leaned across the tape in 24th at 27.56, and Tyler strode across in 25th at 31.72. In the 110m high hurdles, Nick Elliott ran 21.68 for 22nd place. In the 400m competition, Hannah Katz placed 21st in 1:30.93 to Eleanor Gaffneystone’s 22nd showing at 1:39.38. In the middle distances, Madison Clark ran a personal best over 800m to finish in 2:56 for 23rd, as Finley Love garnered 27th in 3:29. On the boys’ side, Ryan Gaffneystone placed 29th in 2:45. In the 1600m contest, Madison continued her personal record smashing streak by running a 6:41 for 17th as Finley Love placed 19th at 7:23. Ryan Gaffneystone ran 5:54 for 23rd as Noah Velasco earned 24th at 6:24. In the 3200m, Madison earned 17th place with a gutsy 15:05, as Ryan Gaffneystone and Nicholas Robson finished in a dead heat for 21st place in 13:24. In the 4X100m relay, your lady Cougars placed 10th in 1:09.39 (Clark, Jeoffroy, Love and Katz). In the same event for the boys, Gaffneystone, Misnuner, McGrew and Elliott ran 53.12 for 8th place and one point! In the 4X200m girls’ race, Nowakowski, Gaffneystone, Travis and Love ran 2:45.63 for 9th, as the boy’s contingency of Robinson, Robson, Misnuner, and deCastro ran 2:28.88 for 9th. In the Long jump, Nick Elliott placed 19th with a leap of 15’05” as Eleonor Gaffneystone leapt a personal best of 8’ 2.5” for 28th. In the triple jump, Noah Velasco placed 21st with a hop, step and jump of 33’.25”. In the shot put, Celeste Jeoffroy putted 16’08” as Addison Nowakowski heaved the implement 11’ .50” for 27th. Aiden Misnuner hit the mark at 27’7.50” for 27th as Adam Tepper put one out to 25’04” for 29th. In the discus, Finley Love threw her best to earn 25th at 37’10” as Addison Nowakowski earned 27th place with 21’09”. Senior boys, Aiden Misnuner and Gabe Cronin threw their implements inside the vector lines for 27th and 29th places, respectively with efforts of 84’08” and 79’06.
The Cougars appreciate your support and look forward to competing tomorrow at the region GIAA 1-AA championship in LaGrange where the top four in each event earn the right to compete at the state championship in Locust Grove 27-29 April.
