2022 Into the Trails Cross Country Meet

Cougar Athletics, Cross Country

Saturday, the young Cougar Harriers from TCS ventured “into the trails” at Locust Grove in Henry County in a meeting of athletes along with fourteen other high schools. Madison Clark led the lady Cougars over hill and dell into 11th overall (top twenty earn medals) with a time of 26:57 (junior varsity). Frosh Malia Richards raced to 41st in 35:25, while Hannah Katz competed gamely, but did not finish due to a cold. (Eleanor Gaffneystone was out due to illness).

In the same version of the boys ‘race, Noah Velasco led the Cougar charge through the hot, humid, mixed terrain course across the chute in 63rd at 27:37. Nick Elliott kicked across the line for 64th in 27:54. Quique de Castro finished 79th at 32:57.  Neophyte Eric Born raced to 84th with his 35:17, as Jack McGrew nipped at his heels in 85th at 35:32.  Dean Kirksey finished in 89th with a 42:00 effort. Unfortunately, neither Ryan Gaffneystone nor Noah Withrow were able to compete due to illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with our comrades battling illness, and we wish them a rapid and complete recovery.  Our next donnybrook is scheduled for August 27 at the Stonehaven Classic.  Thank you for your support!
