Varsity Soccer Travels to St. Simons for GISA State Playoffs for Season Finish
The Cottage School Soccer Cougars traveled to St. Simon’s Island on Monday to take on the Knights of Frederica Academy in the first round of the GISA State playoffs. After a five hour bus ride, the Cougars were a step slower than normal and the talented Knights capitalized early and often. Despite a lovely goal from Daniel Byman, the Cougars were unable to contain the Knights’ attack as the home side poured in 8 first half goals. The pressure continued after the break, with the Knights tacking on an additional 3 goals and ending the game 11-1.
Though the game did not go as we had hoped, we still enjoyed our trip to the beach. We stayed the night in a hotel and enjoyed some time in the hot tub and pool. In the morning, a few brave students went to the beach to watch the sun rise and the whole team visited St. Simon’s Island Pier on our way home. See the pictures below! A big thank you goes out to Athletic Director Richie Briggs and High School Counselor Margaret Shiver for joining us on this trip.
This was a historic season for the Cougars as we captured our fifth consecutive AAC Championship and qualified for the GISA State playoffs for the first time in school history! The coaches would like to thank all of the players for their dedication and effort throughout the season. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the TCS staff and the soccer families that made the season possible and supported us throughout the ups and downs.
Please congratulate the team on another amazing season!
