Varsity Track at Atlanta International School

Cougar Athletics, Track

On March 30, the Boys and Girls Track team competed in the AIS invitational on a warm and very windy day. For the girls 100 meters, Celeste Jeoffroy ran hard but could not place due to technical difficulties. Freshmen Ava Morelle and Finley Love sped through the 400 meters with Morelle placing 22nd with a time of 1:38.47 and Love placing 21st with a time of 1:35.08. Finley Love took on the challenging 800 meters placing 14th with a time of 3:29.69’ in addition to the 800, Love subsequently ran the 1600 placing 16th with a time of 8:03.21. For the long jump, Alyssa Briggs flew into the jump pit placing 12th with 12-11.00. For the ladies discus, Finley Love placed 12th with a throw of 36-06.00. For the shot put, newcomer Celeste Jeoffroy placed 7th with a put of 22-09.00.

The boys team performed well yesterday with Gabe Belden taking 14th place with a time of 14.13 in the 100 meters. Brothers Drew and Nick Elliott took on the 200 meters placing 14th with a time of 28.26 (Drew) and 15th (Nick) with a time of 29.03; Alex Yager followed placing 21st with a time of 30.10. Junior Liam Walsh ran his first 400 taking 17th place with a time of 1:10.92.  For the distance races, Noah Velasco ran in the 800 placing 11th with a time of 2:36.88 with Ryan Gaffneystone following closely placing 12th with a time of 2:42.95. For the 1600 meters, Noah Velasco ran in earnest placing 9th with a time of 5:43.43 as Ryan Gaffneystone strided to the finish line placing 14th with a time of 6.00.62. For the 110 meter hurdles, Nick Elliott took gold with a time of 21.58. Drew Elliott faced the 300 meter hurdles taking the gold home with a time of 54.00. For the high jump, Alex Yager cleared the bar placing 10th going 4-06.00, well done! For the long jump, Liam Walsh leaped into the pit placing 8th with a distance  of 14-10.00. Gabe Belden strove into the pit placing 11th with a distance of 12-00. Nick Elliot took on the triple jump placing 4th with a distance of 29-06. For the boys discus, Aiden Misnuner threw one deep placing 5th with a distance of 72-01.50. While Gabe Cronin followed closely placing 6th with a throw of 66-01. Charles Young gave a great throw of 49-03.00 placing 13th. For the boys shot put, Aiden Misnuner took bronze with a put of 32-09.00 while Charles Young placed 11th with a put of 19-02.50. Please congratulate our athletes on their success! Our next meet will be taking place in LaGrange Georgia on April 13th, we hope to see you there as our Cougars battle for state.
