Strong Rock Cross Country Meet
Saturday, the Cougar Harriers raced around the rock and reservoir at Strong Rock Christian School. Madison Clark earned a top ten medal for placing 5th overall in the varsity girls’ race at 24:19 while Mary Addison Burch placed 30th in 32:41, despite battling a sore throat and congestion.
In the boys’ race, among 13 high schools competing, senior William McGuire led the Cougar charge with a 21:58 for 35th overall. Ryan Gaffneystone earned a hard-fought top 50 with his strong kick through the chute for 49th in 22:33. Senior Noah Velasco ran 26:36 for 78th as Eric Born chased him across the line for 79th in 26:59. Max Rusert placed 84th with a 32:23, as Luke Edwards raced to 85th in 32:30, and senior Jack McGrew ran 32:58 for 86th.
