JV Cougars Top Cumberland 35-32
The JV Cougars headed down the road yesterday to take on the Cumberland Cyclones. From the opening tip the Cougars found themselves in a dog fight. At the end of the first quarter both teams were dead locked at 8 apiece. At the start of the second quarter the Cyclones jumped out to a quick 6 point lead, as the Cougars struggled to find the bottom of the net on the offensive end, but that would soon change. Liam Walsh would knock down a big 3 pointer followed by another big 3 pointer from Ronnie Graver to tie up the game, but fouls would soon become a problem for the Cougars. With that being the case, TCS would look towards the bench for some much needed help, and help is just what they did.
Freshmen Ryan Gaffenystone and Josh Abernathy played crucial minute in the second half and were key contributors on the defensive end, both having breakout games on that end of the floor. Sophomore guard Weston Kershner would go on to knock down a 3 pointer, a put back layup and a huge “and-one” layup to spark an offensive surge by the Cougars. TCS would go on and pull off the huge road win over Cumberland 35-32. The Cougars will be back in action on Friday when they take on the Howard Hawks.
