Varsity Track & Field at The Scots Invite
The Cottage School Cougar varsity track and field teams competed in a triangular meeting of athletes with The Scots from Galloway and the Cavaliers from Atlanta Classical Academy. Competition was fierce but friendly in near perfect conditions under a bright sky. In the girls’ 100m dash, Eleonore Gaffneystone, Celeste Jeoffroy and Lexy Harrison placed 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively in 17.12, 17.67, and 17.91. In the boys’ 100m dash, Jack McGrew, Nick Elliott, Tyler Robinson, Gabe Cronin and Charles Young placed 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th in 13.48, 14.36, 15.48, 15.66 and 17.36, respectively. In the girls’ 800m run, Madison Clark , Hannah Katz and Finley Love placed 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively in 3:10, 3:30 and 3:31 while the boys’ contingency of Ryan Gaffneystone, Noah Velasco, Gabe Cronin and Nicholas Robson placed 8, 9th, 10th and 11th, respectively, in 2:48, 2:54, 2:57, and 2:58. In the 3200m run, Madison Clark earned bronze in 14:07, while Noah Velasco and Gabe Cronin placed 6th and 8th, respectively with times of 12:42 and 15:34. The only hurdle race of the day was the 110Highs won by our very own multi-sport phenom, Nick Elliott, in a respectable time of 22.04. For the team relay action, our squad of Clark, Katz, Love and Jeoffroy placed 2nd in 1:05.13 while the boys contingency of Gaffneystone, Robinson, McGrew and Elliott placed 2nd in 53.34. In the final event of the evening, the heralded 4X400m relay, our girls team of Clark, Katz, Love and Gaffneystone garnered bronze with a 6:05.75, while the lads (Gaffneystone, Velasco, Elliott and McGrew) sprinted into bronze position with a 4:51.22 in the boys’ race.
