Swimming Season Update

Cougar Athletics, Swimming

This weekend the swim team found themselves locked into two eventful swim meets.  On Friday, the team traveled to Watkinsville for the GISA Winter Splash meet where they faced GISA powerhouse teams Augusta Prep and Whitfield.  Saturday the team followed up by hosting the first ever TCS Swimming Invitational.  This meet was the first AAC meet in almost 2 years and saw our Cougars take on the Howard Hawks.

Meet Recaps

Friday’s meet finished with a tremendous showing by our dominant ladies as they finished 2nd overall and a strong showing from our boys who, although short-handed, put up some great finishes.  On the grand scale, the team saw a total of 19 top-ten finishes and 9 state qualifying times from 5 different students!

Saturday’s meet was a much different experience than anything that we had faced this season as it was much faster paced and was missing a large number of normal events.  Due to the small opponent that we faced in Howard-who only had 3 swimmers- we chose not to score this meet for points (we would have more than tripled their score) and instead focus on times.  All in all, we saw 6 more qualifying times from 4 different students and 3 more that were under 3 seconds away from adding to that total!

Next Up

The team will finish their 2021 by traveling back to Georgia Tech this Thursday… Stay tuned!
