MS Track Season Finale
4/19/23: The Middle School Cougars took off to Mill Springs Academy to participate in their final track meet of the season. Of the six schools who are APAC members, only Cumberland Academy and TCS were able to make it. Despite just the two schools we both came with over 15 kids each and had a blast. The weather was perfect and we appreciate MSA for letting us use their great track and field facility to make this happen.
We began with field events with the Long Jump, Discus, and Shot Put all at the same time. Several kids rotated doing all three until finished. The results were as such..
Girls Long Jump: All the girls scratched on all their jumps so we did not have a winner.
Boys Long Jump: Brendan Bullard leaped 11’5” for 1st place, Ethan Halpert jumped 9’5” for the 3rd place ribbon, and Conner Armistead was fourth with a 9’3.5” jump.
Girls Shot Put: Of the four participants, TCS swept the ribbons. Caroline McCants in first with a 16’6”, Mary Addison Burch with a 15’3”, and Leah Nasr was third with a 12’1.5” push.
Boys Shot Put: Brendan Bullard heaved his iron ball 28’1” for 1st place and 2nd and 3rd went to Cumberland. Luka Wurzer’s best push was 14’3”.
Girls Discus: There were only three participants and TCS came away with 1st and 3rd. Mary Addison Burch was first with a 51’8” toss and Caroline McCants threw her UFO 26’1”.
Boys Discus: Brendan Bullard proved his strength again with a 78’ toss for 1st place. Ethan Halpert was second with his personal best of 50’7” and third went to CA. Conner Armistead tossed his dish 40’6”, Brody Heinzmann threw his 28’9”, and Luka Wurzer’s went 21’9”.
After the field events we began the running events with the long mile run and had both genders run together. Only TCS participated. Mary Addison Burch was first with an 8 minute run. All three of our boys broke their personal best times. Wil Moore was 1st place with a 6:28 time, Conner Armistead ran 6:55, and Jonah Lorman finished with a 7:45.
The electric 100m Girls dash was next: TCS’ best time was good for 2nd place with Mary Addison Burch. CA took 1st and 3rd. The times were not written in for all the girls but Leah Nasr also participated.
Boys 100m sprint: Wil Moore proved to be the most conditioned athlete with the mile win and backed it up as the fastest young man with a 13.10. Teammate, Brendan Bullard was right behind in second with a 13.11. Again, no official times down for the others but all ran from 16 seconds to 21 seconds. Neel Shantha, Brody Heinzmann, Ethan Halpert, Hayden Travis, Jackson Martin, Luka Wurzer, Connor McCabe, Colin Ryerson, Ethan Melton, and Kevin Magid.
Girls and Boys 400m run was next. With only two females running this event, Caroline McCants came in second with a 1:52.33.
The TCS boys swept the ribbons with 14 runners. 1st place went to Austin Conduah with a 1:15.42, 2nd place was 1:25.14 to Conner Armistead, and Kevin Magid sprinted in at 1:26.57 for 3rd place. Ethan Melton time was a 1:34.83, 1:44.08-Connor McCabe, 1:48.60-Neel Shantha, 1:52.77-Hayden Travis, and 2:02-Colin Ryerson.
4x100m Relay had two heats, which included the girls (because there was only one team of four girls and that 1st place went to the Cumberland girls.
Boys: Kevin Magid, Ethan Halpert, Austin Conduah, and Wil Moore ran 1:06.17 for 1st place, CA earned 2nd, and TCS grabbed 3rd with a 1:21.04 with Ethan Melton, Neel Shantha, Jonah Lorman, and Jackson Martin. Ryerson, Heinzmann, McCabe, and Travis ran 1:27.14
800m girls and boys run was next: One girl from CA competed and won. TCS earned 1st and 3rd with Jonah Lorman-3:30 and Austin Conduah-3:42.35.
The final running event was the quick 200m girls and boys sprints. The 4x400m relay was cancelled.
Girls 200m: Leah Nasr came in 3rd place with a 43.65 of the four runners.
Boys 200m: Wil Moore proved again his speed with a 28.49 sprint. Brendan Bullard earned 2nd place with a 32.46 and Austin Conduah finished in 3rd place with a 33.07. Enjoy the final few weeks of school. Track season is over.
