Lion Relays Recap

Cougar Athletics, Track

This past Saturday February 26, the Cougars boys and girls competed in the well known Lions Relays at Trinity Christian School with impressive results! For the Lady Cougars, speedy Ava Morelle ran the 300 meters with a time of 1:10.04 placing 27th; in addition Ava ran the 1500 placing 19th with a personal best 7:31.98. Newcomer Madison Clark dominated the 200 placing 18th with a time of 33.65. Due to prior commitments the remaining Lady Cougars were unable to attend the meet; however, they will be attending the meet this week.

For the boys, returning sprinter Drew Elliott partook in the high school boys 100 meter dash placing 20th with a time of 13.44; fellow runner (and brother) Nick Elliott followed closely placing 22nd with a time of 14.11. Veteran Alex Yager finished the race in 23rd with a time of 14.42. For the high school 300 meters race, neophyte Jack McGrew bolted out of the blocks placing 26th with a time of 47.67. For the 800 meter race, returning runner Ryan Gaffneystone flew with a time of 2:39- unfortunately, his placement is unknown due to the absence of the event on the posted results. In addition to the 800, Gaffneystone competed in the 1500 placing 16th with a time of 5:24.29. For the 200 meter high school sprint Drew Elliott placed 14th with a time of 28.01, Nick Elliott pursued placing 15th with a time of 28.26. Alex Yager finished strong placing 18th with a time of 30.56. In the JV 100 meters, Novice Gabe Belden placed 4th overall with a time of 13.09; Jack McGrew followed suit placing 6th with a time of 14.33 For the JV 200 meters, Jack McGrew placed 7th with a time of 30 seconds even. Gabe Belden ran hard and placed 8th with a time of 31.27. For the field events, Alex Yager valiantly attempted to clear the High Jump but was unable to clear the bar. For the long jump, Gabe Belden sprung into action placing 14th with a jump of 11-08.50. Aidan Misnuner represented the throwing events- in the discus, Misnuner placed 5th overall, with a throw of 91-01 feet. Misnuner was unable to partake in the famous shot put. Overall, the Cougars had a great meet with impressive improvements. Our next meet will take place this upcoming Tuesday, March 1 at Galloway. We appreciate your support!
