GISA Region 5AA Championship Meet Recap
On Saturday, the boys and girls cross country team ran an exciting region race with both teams placing 2nd overall behind Howard and Fulton Science school who have had their best teams yet qualifying them for state! The girls team was composed of 8th graders Hannah Katz, Malia Richards, Eleanor Gaffneystone, freshmen Finley Love, and Ava Morelle. For the girls team, 8th grader Hannah Katz led the ladies with a time of 30:02 placing 5th overall thereby earning a top 5 plaque. Please congratulate Hannah on her outstanding accomplishment. Malia Richards came in next coming out of the chute with a time of 31:10 placing 6th. Finley Love kicked to the finish line with a time of 31:24 placing 7th. Ava Morelle set a great personal record of 34:26 placing 10th. Eleanor Gaffneystone finished the race mightily with a time of 35:27 placing 11th.
The boys team crushed the course forming a team of seniors Camden Michaud, Nate Dunbar, sophomore Noah Velasco, freshman Ryan Gaffneystone, and 8th grader Quique DeCastro. Senior Camden Michaud ran his best race of the season with a time of 18:52 placing 2nd. Ryan Gaffneystone set a new personal record running his all time best of 20:18 placing 4th. Please congratulate these two young men on their accomplishment of placing top 5- earning them a plaque. Noah Velasco earned a time of 22:04 placing 7th. Nate Dunbar ran an impeccable race with a time of 23:13 placing 13th. Neophyte Quique came striding in with a time of 28:44 placing 20th. Way to go Cougars on your triumph?.
