TCS Cougars outshot by Brandon Hall Panthers
The Cottage School Cougar golf team travelled to the beautiful River Pines Golf Course in John’s Creek, GA to take on the home team and GISA outfit; Brandon Hall Panthers. The Panthers have just three players on their golf team; two girls and one male. Their young man is a senior expert who has been with the program four years and shot a 36 on the front nine to win the match. Their two young ladies scored a 59 and 68 respectively to aid in their team victory.
On the purple side we had five tee off, competing on a gorgeous and perfect sunny blue-sky, 60 degree, slightly windy day. Though the Cougars did not drive, chip, and putt as well as they would have liked they still were able to improve in some areas and know what to work on in practice. This will aid in their quest to be more consistent by the end of April, in hopes to reach their end of season potential.
Hunter Cool would tell you he did not have his best day but did lead the team with a 62, finishing in 2nd overall. Both Shane Hendrickson and Mike Janyska tied for third place with a score of 66. Cullen Scott finished with a 67 and Jamie Huber rounded out with a 70.
Sportsmanship and fun is always on the top of the list when competing. Sometimes you just don’t hit them straight. The eight student athletes were respectful, honest, and very commendable to each other. Coach Mike (BH coach) and I could not be more proud of how well all the kids represented our schools.
The Cougars will hit the Cross Creek links hosted by AAC rival, the Howard Haks on March 26 at 4pm.
