Middle School Cougars Cross Country Hits the Trails
The Middle School cross country team has had one stellar month of September so far. On September 9th the team traveled to Oak Mountain Academy to take on a very impressive group of GISA schools. With stellar top-ten performances from 8th grader Ryan Gaffneystone(7th) and 6th grader Skylar Brown(8th) as well as near top-ten finishes by 8th grader Hannah Katz(12th) and 6th grader Addison Bowlin(11th) the team really showed what they could do. Other impressive notes from the meet came in the form of first-time runners Jackson Barnes and Ava Morelle, an 8th grade duo, both putting in their personal bests at 16:42 and 23:32 respectfully. This week, the team trekked to Saint George Episcopal School where times continued to drop for the middle school runners. The largest drop came from Ms. Morelle whose 15:37 dropped nearly 8 minutes from her average time! Many runners such as Skylar, Eleanor Gaffneystone and Malia Richards saw 5 minute drops as well! With three meets left on the schedule, there is no telling what this team is capable of!
