Dr. Steve Palmer wins GNFCC Nonprofit Leader of the Year Award

Community, Cottage School News, In The News

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce recognized Dr. Steven “Steve” Palmer, Executive Director and Head of School at The Cottage School (TCS) in Roswell, as the 2019 Non-Profit Leader of the Year. Dr. Palmer accepted his award at a luncheon honoring fellow nominees for this prestigious distinction.

The Cottage School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that combines small class sizes, a workplace model, and the implementation of study skills to provide a unique educational experience. This combination, along with the outstanding faculty and staff at TCS, work together to provide students with mild to moderate learning differences an opportunity to achieve academic and social success.

Dr. Palmer came to TCS in June 2015 from Michigan, where he served at every level from teacher to Superintendent. Steve’s central work focused on enhancing the educational culture with “best practices” and ensuring all high school graduates were prepared for both college and careers. Under his leadership, his schools received national recognition from U.S. News and World Report as One of America’s Best High Schools.

Steve believes, “there are no limits to how The Cottage School can grow in the future.” With significant growth this school year, he is confident that together, with the support of the community, TCS will continue to expand and advance to meet the needs of every child who may find success in a non-traditional learning environment.
