Cougars Cross Country Competition at Core
Saturday, the Cougar boys and girls competed in a rare dual meet with Core School racing alongside horses in the pastures and shoe sucking muddy trails. Our Cougar Runner of the Week Award recipient, Ryan Gaffneystone, exemplified true sportsmanship in helping the Core lead runner up and encouraging him after a slippery fall near one of three lakes, as Ryan raced to victory on the challenging course (nine soul crushing hills) in 23:52. Senior Nate Dunbar placed 4th in 26:22 and Noah Velasco raced across the chute into 5th place for a 32:00. Finley Love placed second for the girls in 37:31 as Ava Morelle finished in 47:48 for 3rd. Unfortunately, while neither boys nor girl’s contingency fielded a complete team, these student athletes competed to the best of their ability and represented TCS well with their sportsmanship, and professional behavior. Please continue to encourage these youngsters as they pursue excellence in life as the Cougar harriers travel to Dominion on September 11 for a 10:00AM Invitational meeting of athletes.
