Mill Springs Meet #2 Recap

Cougar Athletics, Cross Country

Yesterday the Cougar Cross Country team traveled to Mill Springs Academy to compete in the 2nd Invitational at Mill Springs Academy. Both teams improved immensely with Madison Clark leading the ladies with a time of 25:04 placing 4th overall. Freshman Malia Richards strode in 19th place with a time of 31:01. Freshman Hannah Katz conquered the course placing 21st with a time of 33:33. Freshman Eleanor Gaffneystone fought the good fight by placing 25th with a time of 35:46. Kudos to the ladies for delivering great performances.

Unfortunately, due to inconsistencies for the High School boys race on Mile split, the placement for the boy’s race was incomplete; however, the boys performed well with Junior Noah Velasco leading the team with a time of 22:17. Senior Nick Elliott dominated the course with a new personal best of 24:02. Sophomore Eric Born ran mightily with a time of 29:35 while Junior Jack McGrew followed closely with a time of 30:24. Freshman Dean Kirksey set a new standard of time for himself by running a 36:57. Ryan Gaffneystone could not compete due to academics- we hope to see him in the next meet at AAC to make a comeback. Thank you for all of your support- go Cougars!!
