TCS Archery – WGHS Mini Meet 2 – 12/07/22

Archery, Cougar Athletics

The Varsity Archery team’s fourth event of the season was our first weekday off campus tournament in several years – the WGHS Mini Meet 2 hosted by Walnut Grove High School in Loganville GA.  Every tournament has its unique challenges.  This tournament had our high school archers shooting concurrently with several elementary school teams.  New targets on caster wheels resulted in many arrows not fully penetrating the target and a number of bounce backs.  And finally, a distracting buzzing sound of indeterminate origin.  Despite all this, several archers turned in some great scores and the team performed well overall.

The team’s NASP score of 2,799 was a program high surpassing the 2,541 recorded for the St. Jude E-Championship Charity-November tournament last month.

The team’s highest 10 meter target score (49) and 10 meter end (141) was shot by Charles Young.  The highest 15 meter target score (46-twice) and 15 meter end was shot by Adam Tepper.

NASP tournament personal bests were scored by six TCS archers: Leighton Braglia (204-previous 200), Davey Byrnes (244-previous 242), Harrison Lee (222-previous 215), Adam Tepper (273-previous 264), Victoria Trunk (189-previous 174), and Charles Young (269-previous 267).

In addition, another archer surpassed their season personal goal score and will have to set a revised goal:  Adam Tepper.

The highlight of the tournament was Adam Tepper’s 273 which was not quite a new school record, but he was the second archer in the past week to best Brady Schaeffer’s two and a half year old record of 271.

The next tournament is scheduled for Friday, January 6rh on campus for the St. Jude E-Championship Charity-January tournament.
