Cross Country Mill Springs Meet II 2019

Cougar Athletics, Cross Country

Yesterday, The Cottage School Cougars Cross Country teams competed at a meeting of athletes at Mill Springs Academy with fourteen other schools in a manner in which you should be proud.  The boys’ varsity race was won by Larry Orsini in 17:46 he and his mates placed second to the AAAAAAA GHSA Chattahoochee High School.  Larry was undaunted by the large pack of predators from the mighty ‘Hooch working together swapping turns drafting at the front to attempt to reel in their prey for the slaughter (sorry, lads).  Nicholas Daugherty ran second for the Cottage School Cougars placing 8th overall with a time of 19:37.  Camden Michaud placed a gutsy 13th in 20:44, while Braden Smith and stoic long-suffering senior Shane Hendrickson kicked into the chute in 28th and 29th, respectively, at 21:48, and 21:51.  William Conroy hung tough, despite the big hard sun beating upon him, and raced to 28th in 23:20, while up-and-comer Runner of the Week, Nick Helm placed 29th at 23:35.

Our young ladies ran audaciously yesterday and both earned the coveted top ten with Grace Marriott placing 9th in 25:44 and Alex Nebel placing 10th with a 27:17.  In the boys open race, Nicholas Smith experienced a Renaissance and led the Cougar contingency by placing 20th in 23:36 for his best effort this year.  Ben Thomas ran well to place 25th in 25:09, while Frosh, Grant Osgood chased him across the finish line with a 25:17 for 14th.  Alex Hogg ran his best race of the season thus far to earn 33rd in 26:16, as Nathan Dunbar also scored a personal record for 34th position at 26:18. Hunter Cool paced himself into 37th overall with a 27:37 as Andrew Marriott raced into 41st place with a time of 29:54 as Cal Kinard strode gallantly into 45th place in 32:20.  We appreciate your continued support of these student-athletes as they pursue their best selves and hope to see you at our next competition (The Atlanta Athletic Conference Championship) at Mill Springs Academy next Thursday beginning with the girls’ race at 3:45PM.  Have a spectacular day!
