Cougars sweep Cyclones with 66-29 victory!
11/29/23: The Cottage School Cougars traveled to Cumberland Academy to take on the Cyclones in their third AAC game of the season. The outcome was almost identical to the first contest. The Cyclones came out early hitting outside shots, cooled off, and TCS dominated the paint for a 66-29 win.
Cumberland scored 15 first quarter points jumping on the tan cats up 15-8 with less than four minutes to play in the early frame. After a timeout, TCS communicated more effectively and went on a 5-0 run to end the period. Down 13-15 the Cougars rode that run, boosting their confidence heading into the second stanza.
Coach Suroy said, “Keep getting the ball inside and the tide will turn!” Sure, it did as Cottage went on a 58-14 route over the final three frames. This focus and effort gave the Cougars a 66-29 victory and moved TCS to 3-0 in the AAC.
The Cougars will host Saint John Bosco tomorrow night in a repeat of their first game of the season. Coach Richie spoke after the game about this rematch; “We cannot wait for the challenge. We were embarrassed the first time so here is an opportunity to see how much we have improved.”
