Varsity Swimming Weekend Recap

Cougar Athletics, Swimming

This weekend was an eventful one for the Cougar Swim Team as we had two meets to compete in-Friday and Saturday.  Friday we traveled to Georgia Tech and competed against some extremely talented kids, many of them from the top teams in the state, at the Atlanta Girls School Invitational.  Despite the tough competition, our cougars performed tremendously! As a team, our varsity boys finished with a strong 8th place finish while our middle schoolers brought home 7th in boys and 8th in girls! On Saturday we followed up our great work with another awesome showing against a good bit of GHSA teams at the Cumming Aquatic Center hosted by The King’s Academy.  At this meet the varsity girls were the ones stealing the show as they earned a 9th place finish while the middle school boys earned the same.  Although swimming is scored as a team sport it is made up of a lot of individual achievements and these meets saw their fair share of these! TCS had 8 top 10 finishes, 10 state qualifying times, and 5 school records over the two days of competition.  All of these came from 9th grader Sarell Tutt and 8th graders Malia Richards, Maxwell Lagan, and Jake Roberts.

Our next taste of competition will be December 3rd as we travel to Watkinsville for a regional GISA competition.

GO COUGARS!!!
