TCS Middle School Basketball team beats Waldorf
In front of a packed house, the young Cougars took to the hardwood yesterday afternoon to open a new season against the two-time defending conference champions, Waldorf (the team that beat TCS in the Finals last year). The Cougars came out blazing, taking a early lead behind strong rebounding, a stout defense and behind point guard 7th grade sensation, Andrew Dorsey, who scored 6 first quarter points to lead the Cougars to an early 7-4 lead . End of the 1st quarter TCS 7 Waldorf 4
The 2nd quarter began much like the 1st , with the Cougars dominating on both ends of the floor. We just couldn’t get any shots to fall. Good news is, Waldorf couldn’t either.
At the Half TCS 12 Waldorf 7
At the start of the 3rd, Waldorf came back with a combination of stout defense and taking advantage of TCS miscues.. They managed to score points and held TCS pointless.
End of the 3rd TCS 12 Waldorf 12
The 4th quarter remained tied for most of the time until 8th grader Grant Osgood nailed a three pointer with 2 minutes left to put the Cougars up by 3. The defense was able to hold Waldorf off by only allowing 2 points in the final 2 minutes of play.
Final score: TCS 15 Waldorf 14 (only the 2nd time in 5 years TCS has won against Waldorf)
Game notes: Andrew Dorsey led the way with 9 points, Grant Osgood (3 points), Dustin Bartolome-Behrens (2 points) and Jackson Barnes (1 point)
