MS Soccer Team takes second in APAC
On what ended up being a rematch of last year’s championship game, TCS took to the field looking to avenge two previous losses to the Spartans earlier in the year, both by a score of 4 to 1. Both teams came out strong, going back and forth on each others’ end of the field, with both defenses stepping up to the challenge and neither one giving in. At the half: TCS 0 Swift 0
The second half started just like the first ended, with both teams moving the ball, but no shots were going in for either squad. Finally, with 10 minutes left to go in the scoreless match, Swift was able to convert a penalty kick to give them the lead 1-0.
Not to be outdone, Cottage drove the ball the length of the field, only to be stopped by the goalie once again. This led to a break away by Swift, which ultimately put away the Cougars.
Final Score: Swift School 2 TCS 0
Season notes: This year’s team came a long way from where they were when the season began in August. With only 3 returning players and 20 new players (some new to the sport), the team not only had to get used to practicing with one another, they also had to learn to play as a team. As the season progressed, you could see that the players were starting to trust one another which led to them playing harder for each other. This season ended not with a victory, but with a team that was much better than they were at the beginning of the season.
We look forward to seeing how much this team grows in the near future.

Casey and Deanne
