Lady Cougars Beat the Cyclones

Cougar Athletics, Volleyball

The Lady Cougars met up with Cumberland Academy last Wednesday at home. The Cougars brought a brand new line up to face the Cyclones; Carly, Bella, Lexy, Finley, Liilian and Hollyn were ready to play. Inspired by their trip to KSU, the Cougar spirit was high and in effect. Freshman Carly Love put up a nice pass to win the point and started off serving for the Cougars. Strong serving from Carly put the Cougars in an early lead 5-1. Captain Bella Aparicio had a nice dig to earn the serve back for the Cougars. The ball went back and forth. Sophomore Finley Love came up to serve with a smile on her face and proceeded to put away 7 serves in row, score was now 18-7. Serves goes back and forth but Cougar spirit pulls away and junior Lexy Harrison placed the winning serve, 25-13.

Set 2 starts off with Finley serving up 3 points, first one is long and deep into Cyclone court. Cougars lost possession but a Cyclone foot fault returns service to Lexy who turned around the game with 5 serves to keep the Cougars in the lead, 10-4. Followed by Anna who placed 4 serves in a row. The team was loud and proud as they are communicating well and looking very connected as they move to support each other on the court. Finley on the net with a nice save to keep the serve, 18-3. Lillian came up to serve for the first time this season and put in 6 serves to finish off set 2, 25-4.

Cougar teamwork and spirit again take the court for set 3. Finley returned the serve from the Cyclones to win the point and serve, 1-1. Serve goes back and forth. The team is continued to communicate and come together after each play. Lexy returned to the service line with 3 in a row. Cougars moved ahead 12-6 leaving the Cyclones in their own dust. Finley is picking up passes and putting them back into the Cyclone court. Cougars got the serve back and Lillian placed the match winning serve, Cougars win 25-17.
