Cougars break AAC sweep record with 56-14 victory over Hawks
1/28/2022: The Cottage School Cougars played host to the Howard Hawks on Friday’s Senior Night. The Cougars boast nine seniors and this group made history. For the first time in the AAC (est. 1989) a member has swept their competition in three straight seasons. The previous record was set in 2012-2013 when TCS went 24-0 over two title seasons. Cottage used their stout defense, speed, experience, and unselfish team play to route the young, rebuilding Howard team 56-14.
Just like they did vs MSA, the Cougars pitched a shutout in the first quarter taking an 11-0 lead. The Hawks responded midway through the second stanza, but the Cottage offense was even stronger jumping to a 30-7 edge at intermission.
TCS continued their dominance, and the outcome was never in question. On this night it belonged to the senior class of 2022 and the highlight reel was rolling. After Cottage went on to win 56-14 their focus now will be to stamp more Cougar purple lore into the AAC record books, searching for an eighth title and three in a row. AAC playoffs begin this Monday 1/31 @ TCS, and the Cougars will host the #4 seed Mustangs of MSA at 4:30 PM.
