Cougars Battle But Lose at LaGrange Academy, 53-30

Basketball, Cougar Athletics
Varsity Boys Basketball

The Cottage School Cougars travelled to South Georgia to take on the LaGrange Academy Warriors. LA is a GISA school in LaGrange, GA. The Warriors’ athleticism and shooting touch was too much for the Cougars, taking the 53-30 victory.

From the tip, the Warriors protected their home court. They raced to an 18-4 lead and never looked back. The Cougars effort in the second half was fun to watch. Down 39-16, they picked up their intensity level forcing multiple Warrior turnovers. Led by a Lucas Hoffman three pointer and a consistent Aidan Briggs moving off the ball, TCS found an offensive rhythm and cut the big lead to twelve points midway through the fourth frame; 41-29. LaGrange settled down and finished the Cougars off 53-30, but Cottage looks to use that momentum into practice and their games this weekend.

The Cougars will take on Center Academy and Fulton Science Academy on Friday night at the Cougar Center in a bizarre back to back game night. Saturday they will take on Atlanta Jewish Academy in AJA’s home gym opener.

Game Notes:

Aidan Briggs led the team in points with 15, tying his young career high. He also added 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocked shots.

Brett Boyles recorded 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Parker DeMent hauled in 6 rebounds and had 4 blocks.

Shane Hendrickson hustled his way to 5 boards and 4 steals.

Lucas Hoffman connected on a 3-pointer and stole a pass.

Very Proud Cougar Coaches,

Suroy Henderson and Richie Briggs
