Junior Varsity Coaches:

JV Head Coach Cecil Lancaster

Cecil Lancaster is in his first year as JV Basketball coach and Varsity Baseball coach here at The Cottage School.  Coach Lancaster brings with him a wealth of experience with nearly 20 years of teaching and coaching experience.

Coach Lancaster started his athletic career at The Northeast Mississippi Junior College where he played both football and baseball.  While at Northeast he set the freshman and sophomore lifting records in both the bench press and the squat.  He also was awarded the “Tiger” award as most improved freshman on the football team.  As a sophomore, Coach Lancaster led the football team in rushing and all purpose yards.  In baseball Coach Lancaster won the Mississippi Junior College batting title with a .425 batting average as a freshman and 23 home runs as a sophomore.   After Northeast, Coach Lancaster finished his athletic career at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where again he played both baseball and football.  At Ole Miss, Coach Lancaster was a member of the 1977 S.E.C. Championship baseball team playing both first base and the outfield.  Coach Lancaster’s athletic career ended in a football game with Vanderbilt after suffering a devastating knee injury on the second half kickoff.

Coach Lancaster has had the opportunity to begin programs at three different schools here in the Atlanta area.  While at Brandon Hall, St. Francis and Mt. Pisgah, Coach Lancaster, along with some very fine coaching staffs, was able to start the baseball programs which, over the years have produced 2 baseball players in the pros and 15 players on baseball scholarships and 24 all state or all region players of the year.  Among other accomplishments have been 3 state baseball championships, 1 volleyball state championship and 1 basketball state championship and while the Athletic Director at Riverwood High School, 1 Tennis State Championship and 1 Track and Field State Championship.

Coach Lancaster also has been name state coach of the year once, region coach of the year four times, Assistant Athletic Director of the three times.

Coach Lancaster has been blessed with two great children.  Kelly, played football on a scholarship at Morehead State in Kentucky and is currently working in the Atlanta area and Holli, is attending Ole Miss on a band scholarship studying to be a math teacher.
