MathScape is an FUN, NSF-funded, standards-based mathematics curriculum for grades 6-8. It encourages students to learn mathematics by doing mathematics, using and connecting mathematical ideas, and actively constructing their own understanding. The main component of each lesson includes hands-on activities in which students explore mathematical concepts.
Teacher Specific Programs offer an hour of specific enrichment opportunities presented by teacher experts. Topics include Media Savvy, B & W drawing, Shape-Color-Space in various mediums, Polymer Clay Figurines, Polymer Clay Techniques and Model Making, Movie Making Basics, Using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (all levels).
Investigation is a team project designed to introduce students to debate, logic, and the process of logical arguments. In a debate-like setting, campers will practice exploring topics from many different sides, creating fact-based arguments that are persuasive and informative, creating visual aids, and delivering their sides of the topic in a debate style format.
Field Trip Fridays will extend the Investigation Topic of the week.
