The Cottage School Cougars proved they can win ugly as they battled foul trouble and poor shooting percentage to defeat the Mill Springs Mustangs 55-40 in the AAC semi-final game hosted at Brandon Hall on Wednesday. TCS will move on to play Atlanta Area School in the final on Friday night. TCS got off to a great start going ahead 13-4, capped by a fast break jam from A.J. Farrar. Cardiac Cats Prevail 79-74 in Cougars’ Largest Comeback in School History!

The Cottage School traveled just down the road to Old Milton High School to take on a North Atlanta Flight home school team that historically has been as strong as a Crown, Greater Gwinnett, and other home school teams in Georgia. This year’s Flight team lost to both teams stated above by 15-20 points each, but still have the potential to be dangerous due to their fundamental skill and having four accurate three-point shooters. Sure enough, North Atlanta took flight and buried thirteen three-pointers in the game; ten in the first half...

2/6/2012: Varsity Cougars Remain Unbeaten in the AAC Defeating Mill Springs 32-22

Posted by on Feb 6, 2013 in varsity-mens-basketball | 0 comments

In their lowest scoring affair of the season, The Cottage School Cougars still managed to defeat the Mill Springs Mustangs 32-22 with an outstanding defensive effort. TCS ends the regular season undefeated for the second year in a row and the league will have to wait until next school year to get a shot to end the Cougars twenty-seven game regular season conference winning streak. In the 24-year history of the Atlanta Athletic Conference, no team has ever come close to this milestone. There have been a few undefeated seasons along the way, but...

2/1/2013: Cougars Smother Firebirds in 52-42 Senior Night Victory!

Like TCS, the Academe of the Oaks Firebirds have walked over every other AAC opponent. Back in December, they lost by five points to the Cougars so were confident this night would be different. The Firebirds stayed close early, but The Cottage School showed its championship swagger the second half to win the schools’ 26th consecutive regular season conference game; 52-42. TCS will look to win its’ 27th AAC regular season game—an undefeated streak that began over two years ago when they lost on the road to Academe back in December of...

1/31/2013: Varsity Cougars Prevail 48-22 Over Brandon Hall

The Cottage School Cougars remain undefeated in the AAC at 8-0 with their win over the Brandon Hall Panthers. The game originally was scheduled to take place at Brandon Hall on 1/30, but with the tornado and weather conditions cancelling the contest, it was moved to 1/31 at The Cougar Center. Coach Briggs says, “I am just happy we were able to fit it in. Brandon Hall is hosting a middle school basketball tournament so we almost had to cancel the game altogether. The only option was for the games (JV, Girls, Varsity Boys) to be moved to TCS....

1/23/2013: Cougars Lose Tough Battle at Solid Rock Academy

The Cottage School Cougars traveled to Riverdale, GA to take on GISA A Solid Rock Christian Academy and left learning valuable lessons. Solid Rock made it to the GISA A state final four last season and has another strong team this year. The mixture of size, speed, quickness, and strength was too much for Cottage as they lost in a tight 52-57 contest. The Cougars came out strong from the jump ball-literally. A.J. Farrar perfectly placed his tip ball to teammate Marquis Victor who scored the first two points of the game. The two teams would go...

Cougars Fall 66-86 Homecoming Night to Greater Gwinnett

The Cottage School Cougars (14-5) played host to the Greater Gwinnett Christian Barons (16-1) for Homecoming 2013. The Barons have been a very strong home school program over the years and this year is no different. With three players scoring over twenty points, GGC proved they were the better team and came away with the 86-66 victory. The Cougars outscored the Barons from late first quarter through most of the third stanza, but it was an 18-point deficit TCS had to come back from that ultimately handed them their fate on Homecoming night. As...

1/17/2013: Cougars Handle Hawks in 67-34 Victory

The Cottage School Cougars move to 7-0 in the AAC and 14-4 overall after another regular season sweep of the Howard Hawks with a 67-34 win on the road. Howard is in a rebuilding year losing all five starters from last season, and are 0-7 in the AAC. The AAC champions must have decided to put the game away early as the Cougars kept the Hawks grounded in a 23-5 first period affair. TCS continued to dominate the glass and force Howard turnovers throughout the contest ultimately prevailing 67-34. TCS connected on eight three-pointers in the game...
